New England UAS and AAM Summit – Boarding Pass to the Next Era of Aviation
October 4-5, 2023 – Burlington, MA
The New England Chapter of the Association of Uncrewed Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI) is dedicated to professional development, networking, public outreach, and advocacy in support of robotic or automated vehicle systems with a particular focus on the New England region.
Join us at our annual summit co-hosted by AUVSI New England, NDIA New England, and MassAutonomy. Learn about the latest developments in UAS (uncrewed aircraft systems or drones) and AAM (advanced air mobility) from the perspectives of businesses, federal regulatory agencies, state transportation organizations, operators, and technology developers.
When: Wednesday-Thursday, October 4-5, 2023
Where:
Northeastern University Innovation Campus at Burlington, Massachusetts
147 South Bedford St., Bldg 5, Burlington, MA 01830
New England has hundreds of companies, large and small, working on the advancement, development, production, and utilization of uncrewed systems. Applications range from inspecting infrastructure and airspace safety to building a new ecosystem of clean aircraft for new forms of mobility. The Summit covers these diverse topics, along with a demonstration of new technologies.
Topics include:
Real-world perspectives for AAM planning and implementation
Complex UAS operations today
Ensuring airspace safety around airports
Counter UAS programs
Critical technologies to enable beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations
Drones as First Responder (DFR) programs
Industry implications for evolving regulations
Massachusetts leadership guiding global AAM roadmaps
Reinventing airports for electric flight
Speakers include leaders from:
The FAA
Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT)
MassAutonomy
Northeastern University
Raytheon Unmanned Vehicle Systems
U.S. Army
Industry innovators in AI, robotics, and advanced sensing from the New England area and beyond.
Demonstrations – Afternoon on Day 2 (October 5)
An ambitious undertaking to show the power of autonomous flight in action. Held at the Northeastern University Innovation Campus and surrounding airspace.
Interactive Panel #1 – Critical technology for BVLOS operations
A simulated BVLOS using a Censys Technologies Corporation VTOL aircraft with a flight area monitored using MatrixSpace Radar, Dedrone Defense Detection Systems, and MassDOT Aeronautics WISP IR detection system.
Interactive Panel #2 – Critical technology for DFR operations
A simulated DFR (drone as first responder) response showing DFR BVLOS operations: an incoming emergency call; a semi-automated/automated response to provide UAV surveillance of the response area; and sensors used to detect and track the DFR vehicle while also keeping the airspace clear of intruders. Participants include Axon, the Boston Police Department, CounterDrone, MassDOT Aeronautics, MatrixSpace, and a team of first responders.
Who should attend?
Government, industry, and academic leaders developing UAS and AAM markets, operations, policy, and technologies.
Also, it is open to local high school students interested in learning about this dynamic sector.
